Kew in Sydney (the dog not the suburb)

On the weekend, we trekked all the way to Sydney to show (and to visit family). Kew won 1st in the Minor Puppy class :D We got to stand in our first challenge line up ever. Fun times for Kew and I.

The Tails of Kew and the Dog Next Door

The escape of Kew from our backyard was aided by fluffy dog Kenji (the dog next door). The two worked very hard, digging for at least half a day to make their rendevous a reality. Once the hole was big enough for little Kew to slink her way through, the fun began! We have since blocked up the hole to prevent further mischief. Kew's not impressed.

Missing in Action

Byerley Cue
Age: 4 mths, 21 days

We missed this weekend's dog show! Wah! However, Kew is eagerly awaiting her next show. That's her above. Look how eager she is! Okay, so she's really waiting for her dinner. But I'm sure she's just as excited about next weeks show.

Chewy Kew

Kew likes to play ball games with her friends and family. She doesn't actually bring it back to you when you throw it for her though. She also likes to chew them up. You can't see it, but there's a hole in this ball. Nom nom nom.

Some of the things Kew has found chewable:
  • the other dog's legs and ears
  • garden slippers (her favourite)
  • shoes (sneakers are best)
  • pants (the fraying ends)
  • ducted heating vent cover
  • socks and underwear
  • garden gloves
  • palm leaves
and of course she has an arrangement of "proper" chew toys.

Sleeping Cockroach Style

This is Kew's preferred sleeping position. They call it the "cockroach" with her legs in the air, wave 'em around like you just don't care, kind-a-style.

Kew's First Show: Whippet Specialty

This is Kew and I at the table. I can't tell you who was shaking more at the table, me or Kew. Probably me. Kew stood very still for me as I stacked her in what I hoped was not a rocking horse impression. As the judge approached, I hoped that Kew would not jump up to greet her. Success!

Kew didn't place, but we're still learning, and of course she's a winner in my eyes :)

Kew's New Trolley-Bed

Big curl ball, little curl ballKew's new trolley bed came via courier from Sydney, Horses at Home. I was afraid it would be difficult to get her used to the idea of sleeping in one (since she didn't like her puppy pen all the much). Well, to my surprise, once I put the pillows in, the dogs crawled in there and went to sleep by themselves. Cute little things.

Meeting Byerley Cue

Meet Byerley Cue, we call her Kew for short. She was bred by two whippet loving gentlemen, Peter and Peter, in beautiful Emerald. Named after a famous women's designer and a prestigious suburb in Melbourne, this little show girl is going places (even if it's just a walk to the local park).
